I've never heard this version of that sappy REO Speedwagon song(that I didn't like while it was popular when I was in HS)....but oh man THIS version of their sappy love song is EVEN worse than REO Speedwagon's original version of their sappy/awful hit song.... #WHYsomemusicshouldneverbeCOVEREDEVERagain lol :)
Reinterpretations can be interesting, too...
I would say better but certainly as good in it's own way...
I see U2 did it originally? Now I have 2 songs to hear for the first time...
Best U2 song ever.
I think 'One' is the groups undisputed masterpiece...
One by Metallica ... yeah.
there are so many great covers that to me personally are better than the original version , another favourite of mine.........
I'll take your word for it, Ser. This version is certainly beautiful enough :)
I like this version better than the original from Talk Talk.
Billy Idol actually wrote the song White Wedding...therefore him singing White Wedding "unplugged" on MTV is NOT him singing a "cover" version of that song, BECAUSE he wrote the song lol! :)
A "cover" song is when a band and/or solo artist records a song written and/or performed by the original band/singer/songwriter of that song.
....and if I had a dollah for every member who followed the requests of my posts to the letter over the years, I'd have a nifty wad of cash in my pocket.
Now that you've killed a response and apparently taken on the mantle of website cop, don't forget to critique us for spelling and grammar.
RUH ROH Shaggy..we need to get out of here as FAST as we can because Freeranger is really mad at you now this time.
Perhaps take a look around? It would appear you're the only one laughing.
Anyway, no anger on my point, rather an instructive moment for you of what not to do with people who are here merely providing an answer to a question on a free flowing thread in which, there are no right or wrong answers......only opinions.
If you want to be a buzz killer, or shout fire in a theatre, have at it, but know your victim before you try jumping in their shit because many of us are veterans of many other websites for many years before coming here. We all understand how it works. Etiquette has shown that if there's any throwin' down to do on anyone, that's the author's right. I saw no where, where you were deputized to begin a critique of either myself or anyone else. Maybe try posting something for once and quit riding on the backs of others? Then you'll understand
Lol!! Oh man, I simply pointed out that Billy Idol had actually wrote that song, so therefore he wasn't singing a "cover song" ...but as usual you LIBERALS read way too deep into a simple comment about freakin' music, smh lol!!!!
There are so many great songs that have been covered by other bands that are so much better than the original song...The Black Crows "Hard to Handle", Van Halen's "You Really Got Me", Bob Seger's "Nut Bush City Limits", Molly Hatchets "Dreams" just to name off a few....but my all time favorite cover song is Tesla's "Little Suzi" because they as a hard rock band took a lame "new wave" British pop band song that was not popular at all in the USA when it came out in the early 80's...to then ROCK IT OUT in the right way that made it a hit ROCK song in the USA lol!!! :)

I can think of several covers that are better IMO...I'll only post one, however (Well, I'll post the original and the cover of the same song, and anyone interested can decide for themselves.)
Cover - Brooks & Dunn "My Maria"
Original by B.W. Stevenson..I like them both, but I think B&D is just a tad better because it's quite as busy-sounding in musical background. JMO
Meant "NOT" quite as busy-sounding in the musical background.
I guess I'm too used to the original
What about many Joe Cocker songs? Do you like his version of "She Came in Thorough The Bathroom Window?"
Actually, it's my favorite.
That whole Cocker album was and is one of favorite albums period.
Always been a huge Joe Cocker fan. The musicians he used throughout the years on tour and for session work were always top shelf folks.
Some are, although I often don't agree with the consensus. I thought Roger Miller's recording of this Kris Kristofferson song was good, just not quite as soulful as this one...
Going wayyyy back... compare songwriter Willie Nelson's demo of "Crazy" to Patsy Cline's cover
I do agree with Willie Nelson, that Patsy Cline's recording of Crazy was the best one. Many of my most loved songs do go way back. Not quite as far early Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline, always.
I'm not sure if Boz Scaggs actually wrote this song, but many times when I've posted it, someone has told me how they like Lowell George's recording of it better. I do not, like many other "covers" of songs. :)
Can't see/hear the song - - - "This video is not available"
But Lowell's was available:
Really now....I'm tending to doubt that, but okay.

Nope... same deal
Don't know why that is.
Nether do I. Maybe it's my location? (Canada)
Many vids aren't available to us... SNL clips for example
Could be that.
Paint it Black
Or 99 balloons
Or “Mad World”
Tears for Fears:
I think so.
