If I were discarded my wife and daughters might henpeck each other to death. I can withstand their abuse only because I have built up a tolerance over the years.

Yes. Mostly. Only occasionally do I feel I'm dying from a thousand small cuts.
I know that relationships and family life are not so easy, and we have all to deal with disappointments, errors, failures, conflicts and diverging views.
And hard working people often forget that they are not the only ones dealing with stress and pains, and that people cannot be taken for granted.
One of the essential values for getting along together is that of mutual respect:
