And despite the successes of older people, young people scoff. So, when there is a momentary power failure, the store needs to close - there's no way to transact business. Kids send emails to Mom for mothers day - instead of an actual card. If Facebook crashed, they are forced to actually speak to real people! Young folks simply accept crap reported as news despite having been lied to repeatedly.

In response to “And despite the successes of older people...

For sure. The electronics have taken over and now seem to do more for kids than real life. Pretty sad because things go down then they go nuts. A teen in lunch room last week couldn't use his phone so he was sitting there pushing buttons on the tv remote in a state of total addiction.. That is a sad He could have been reading the paper or eating lunch.

Every generation says theirs was the best once the next generation (or two)... (or three) comes along. And they all lament about how things were soooo much better before and how this country is going down the tubes. I guess that's how you know you're old? : )

I say two generations before mine was best.

It CAN not be too firmly stressed,
To have known them, we've really been blessed.
Regardless of station,
The Greatest Gen'ration
Was truly, undoubtedly best.

Of course we do. There were some great things about the "way things were". Some are; neighborhood kids playing together outside instead of sitting at home playing video games, respecting other peoples property, actually knowing everyone on your block, depending on your neighbors and each other when you go through some rough times, being able to go to bed at night not worrying about checking the doors to make sure they are locked, being able to walk around your neighborhood at night without fear, and the list goes on.

Why is that? I expect when I get old I will not want to live in a different time...like my parents time.
