I do it all the time. It never gets me anywhere but I do it
You do what all the time? You are not old so I don't know what you mean.
I have to defend my old fashioned ways all the time.
I see what you mean, now :)
And despite the successes of older people, young people scoff. So, when there is a momentary power failure, the store needs to close - there's no way to transact business. Kids send emails to Mom for mothers day - instead of an actual card. If Facebook crashed, they are forced to actually speak to real people! Young folks simply accept crap reported as news despite having been lied to repeatedly.
Damn liberal scum!
For sure. The electronics have taken over and now seem to do more for kids than real life. Pretty sad because things go down then they go nuts. A teen in lunch room last week couldn't use his phone so he was sitting there pushing buttons on the tv remote in a state of total addiction.. That is a sad He could have been reading the paper or eating lunch.
Well back in my day blah blah blah!
That image sure doesn't help countering the old fashioned ways. I mean shit that is awesome Zip lining is the same as leave it to Beaver **** no way to make that look more appealing
Leave It To Beaver was hokey even back in the late 50s/early 60s... I don't ever recall that era being like that.
If it is using zip lines to go about town then I want it now!
Now you're talkin' :)
Beaver wasn't meant to depict real life. It was a comedy. Even though we never saw Mr's Cleaver naked, we all knew Eddie Haskall wanted to bang the shit out of her.
Some of the older ways of doing things is still the best....just SOME, not all. lol
Yes. Unfailing courtesy and dressing up for a date.
We used to telephone people, now it's email or text. Plus, company was allowed to drop in and visit, and now we have to call before we visit.
That last bit... I actually don't like unexpected company. :(
Some people don't, guess I'm old fashioned. lol
Yes you are
I think it is polite to call before a visit. What if they are sleeping or in a state of undress?
I know, So many times I look up how did grandmother do this or that. Those old guys knew how to get things done with little.
They had it a lot tougher back in the day. lol Not a lot of modern conveniences like we have today.
Every generation says theirs was the best once the next generation (or two)... (or three) comes along. And they all lament about how things were soooo much better before and how this country is going down the tubes. I guess that's how you know you're old? : )
That is all very true.
I say two generations before mine was best.
It CAN not be too firmly stressed,
To have known them, we've really been blessed.
Regardless of station,
The Greatest Gen'ration
Was truly, undoubtedly best.
Of course we do. There were some great things about the "way things were". Some are; neighborhood kids playing together outside instead of sitting at home playing video games, respecting other peoples property, actually knowing everyone on your block, depending on your neighbors and each other when you go through some rough times, being able to go to bed at night not worrying about checking the doors to make sure they are locked, being able to walk around your neighborhood at night without fear, and the list goes on.
I can't remember our home doors ever being locked... except when we, as a family, went on summer's vacation.
I don't defend them, I brag about them...
I forget... were you a sissy Mod or a devil-may-care Rocker?
Whatever, but I was very cute..
Your candor... has disarmed me.
You're not used to people agreeing with you
No kidding. It came as a shock
I love it when you squirm
Please become a mod again...
I've burnt that particular bridge....hehe
Anyway ...there are a few that would have an heart attack on here...
That could be a good thing...
Best idea that has been written for weeks. Platnum was a very good mod.
Thank you, tried my best at a difficult time on here...rent a sock on a daily basis
Why is that? I expect when I get old I will not want to live in a different time...like my parents time.
I like the older music and movies and TV but I sure don't miss the crippling conformity of the pre-Beatles era... nor the weird hairdos and clothes of the 70s.
I like some old stuff, too. I hear the work pace was a lot easier....
Yup, Missy... the pace was a lot less harried back then. Why I remember when we used to dot dot dot blah blah blah...
You had to live it to realize how safe and carefree it really was...
