Van Gogh was easy, I admit. What about Melville? Was he a relative unknown in his time?

I only know what I just read about Melville in wikipedia. (smile)

According to what I read..
Moby-**** was another commercial failure, published to mixed reviews.

Melville's death from cardiovascular disease in 1891 subdued a reviving interest in his work. The 1919 centennial of his birth became the starting point of the "Melville Revival". Critics discovered his work, scholars explored his life, his major novels and stories have become world classics, and his poetry has gradually attracted respect.

Anne Frank...I imagine she'd be surprised to find out that her family's time spent hiding from Nazis in a secret annex behind a bookshelf had been adapted into a Broadway musical.

Very true! I'm sure she never dreamed that her little journal would bring her into the hearts of generations of people all over the world. (l)
